Amber!!!! How exciting is that...Congratulations!!! I'm so proud of you. Are you just going to maintain your weight now or will you continue to try to lose fat/weight?...just curious. I know how much dedication it takes to reach a goal like the one you did so I think that's amazing. I'm interested to know more about what you guys found out about CrossFit that made you decide to cut back on it. Not sure why, but I've been very sceptical since I found out about CrossFit. Also, I'm curious to know how many calories a person your size should be taking in?? I'm being very nosey!!!
Shannon!!!! You do not need to lose any more weight. You might be 122-123 but you look like you're no more than 110-115 already. SERIOUSLY...I'm always so impressed by your "slenderness". You must really be carrying very little, little fat and a lot of lean, dense muscle. You look perfect!
Amber, I can't thank you enough for suggesting that website. I went on it immediately and began playing around. I can see how it is a HUGE motivator to stay on track if you can actually calculate not only calories but also what nutrition you're taking in. I also loved how easy it was to use. Since I've starting watching my eating, I've done my best to keep from counting calories because I used to do it obsessively. I was afraid I might fall into that type of behavior again. But, I've realized since I've been doing it this past month, that it's just another thing that I'm doing to stay healthy and meet my goals. Also, since I've started counting calories, I've randomly ran into different articles that talk about how much more effective calorie counting is than any other diet. Also, I've been watching The Biggest Loser, and Jillian Michaels told the contestants that counting calories and exercising is the best and most common-sense diet. Maybe it's God's way of confirming to me that I'm on the right track. All that to say, I signed up for myfitnesspal.com!!!!
SO, how's is my new approach registering on the scale. Well, I dropped into the 119 range about a week ago!! I actually had some mixed feelings about it. I was obviously excited to be a weight that I had not been since my early twenties, and I was even more excited that I got there in a healthy manner. On the other hand, I almost felt "too skinny". I saw my parents last weekend and my dad asked me if I had lost weight and a part of me felt scared that he noticed and that maybe I was taking things too far. SOOOO, I'll be praying about all of this and no doubt, I'll be letting you girls know what happens.
Well...here's to having better bodies in our late twenties and early thirties than we EVER have. May it continue long into our fourties, fifties and BEYOND!!!
I MISS YOU!!!!!

Amber that is so awesome that you made your goal...I am so happy for you. I have seen how consistent you have been with your diet and your workouts and now you have seen the results. Way to go! I have noticed a definite change in your body...you look great!!! :) I may take a look at that website...maybe it will help me keep better track of my calorie intake and I would be very curious to know how many calories I should have in a day.
Anyway, my vacation was great despite the bugs and wasps everywhere...yuck!!! Pat and I had a nice time together. I ate A LOT of food and none of it was very healthy, but I was excited to see this morning when I weighed myself that I hadn't gained any weight. Obviously I can't continue to eat like that, but it was nice to know that one week off of working out and eating horribly didn't hurt the progress I had made before vacation.
Sarai, how is the journal going? I hope it has been effective. :)
Well, you ladies have helped me get a little more motivated in tracking my calories. I don't know if I will be perfect at it, but I think I might give it a shot. So, I thank you both for that...after all this is what this blog is all about...motivating, encouraging, and trying something different...especially when it works for someone else. :)

GOOOOOOOOOOAL!!!
Hi ladies! I also apologize for not posting in a long while. Weekends seem to fly by without me realizing it, and I can forget about having time to blog during the week! I do have some news to report: I MET MY GOAL! Today, I stepped on the scale, and my weight was 114.8. YES!! My healthy eating has really really paid off. This means I have lost a total of 13 pounds since January (and a total of 6 pounds since working out with Aaron & taking my healthy food diet very seriously-which both started in July). I have to give you kudos, Sarai, for trying to go for that food journal. Calorie counting really makes a huge difference, for me it made most of the difference. I was in disbelief when Aaron first calculated the total number of calories a person of my height and fitness level needed to consume. Actually, I was shocked at the limit. But I gave it a chance and results came almost immediately! AND because I'm sure to make those calories full of nutrients, fiber, & protein, I don't feel hungry AT ALL throughout the day. I still have quite a sweet tooth though, but I allow myself the occasional bowl of ice cream once a week or a few cookies if someone brings them to work, because I know I can afford a few extra calories here and there.
My plan is to stick with my current eating habits & continue the workouts with Aaron. We have done the crossfit series less and less. As Aaron gets more educated from his program, he's realizing that the majority of those workouts are not "one-size-fits-all" & are injury inducing if you don't really have a background in weight training/athletics, and so I've only been incorporating some of the core routines, that don't involve heavy weights.
Shannon, I'm glad BBL provided great results! I hope the hybrid of BBL & CE works out & your results are even more plentiful! I think you look amazing! I can't wait to hear about your vacation=)
Sarai, again I can't tell you enough about how I think its so super you and your friend are keeping food journals. Calorie counting & being accountable for the true food you eat in a day really makes you see excelerated results. I don't write in a journal, but I do enter my food I eat per day throught this website: www.myfitnesspal.com It calcuates how many calories you should be eating per day based on your height, current weight, & goal (i.e., maintain current weight, gain weight, lose weight). You can look up the foods you eat that day from a database they have. It calculates not only the amount of calories per food, but all the nutrients, fat content, sugars, etc. SO you can see for yourself where any imbalances exist. ITS changed my whole perspective on what's going in my mouth.
Ok girls I gotta go. Hopefully my next post won't be a month away! Later!

Hey Girls!
Sorry it has been awhile since I last posted. I have been busy and I guess I haven't had a lot to report about either.
Sarai,
I am glad you had that break and have "re-focused" yourself. I think having a break and finding a way to get excited again about working out and eating right is great. I am glad you and your friend are helping each other. I am sure that will help with accountability and it is great to have that extra support. I have thought about doing a journal for my eating, but I just don't think I would keep up with it....in fact I think I tried for about a week a year ago and it didn't last. Oh well! I am sure I would find the same thing...eating more calories than I need to for my body type. Again....oh well!
I will be taking a week off now since Pat and I are going on our vacation this next week. It will be a nice break. :) I really enjoyed that Brazil Butt lift program. It really did make a difference with my butt and thigh area. While my bum-bum isn't quite where I want it to be, it is close. I have also noticed that I am FINALLY getting more shape in my calves. Hallelujah!!! :) My eating still isn't where I want it to be, but I have gotten better...I just can't seem to say "no" to the sweets. My weight continues to sit at 123, which is fine with me. Obviously I would love to get a little lower, but I am not going to worry about it too much. I think when I get back from my week off, I will alternate between CE and BBL, however, I might incorporate some of the cardio and lower body stuff from the BBL program into the non circuit days for CE...we will see.
Amber, how is everything going for you? Hope you are continually seeing improvement.
Well, I hope you are both doing well. :)

HELLO FRIENDS!!!
Are you guys ok? I feel like everyone has been a little "quiet" the past few weeks. I hope that each of you is doing well!!
Shannon - I know it's been a while since your last post, but as always, I'm excited to hear what you'll be doing next. When exactly will you and Pat be going on vacation? Are you there now? You guys have an AMAZING time! No doubt that you each earned some time off and some time together.
Amber - How is everything going for you? Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope all is well!
Well, about 4 or 5-weeks ago, I realized that I haven't really been made any progress in one direction or another and I was ready for some new motivation! So I took a week off from working out and from watching my eating just to pray and think about what would be a good plan for the last 4 months of the year. SOOOOO, I asked my friend Kyla to meet with me and we talked about our goals for health and fitness. She has been doing Crossfit for over a year and hasn't really seen results...not because Crossfit doesn't work, but because she hasn't taken control of her eating. So, our consensus was that we each needed to take control of our eating and be more self disciplined and motivated. TIME TO GET SERIOUS!!! What I decided was to journal my eating each day to make sure that I was staying within the recommended calories for a person my size and build. I found that I was eating WAY MORE that I needed to be. Since I've started journaling and meeting with Kyla on a weekly basis, my weight has maintained a 120-121 range (instead of 120-123) and I'm eager to drop into the 119 range. I can feel it coming!!!
So, I'm going to work hard to meet my 115 goal for December. Not because I think I'm fat...it's just something I started and I want to finish what I started. If I get to 115 and I'm not happy with the effort it takes to stay there, I'll let it go. Currently, I have more confidence in the way my body looks than I ever have. It feels good to "like myself" and it's something that I've grown to enjoy and be content with. Today, I went shopping with Steven and I bought some size 2 pants...granted, they were from Eddie Bauer whose sizes probably run a little big. The great thing was not that I had to get a size 2, but that I got a size 2 and didn't really think it was a big deal. I would have been just as content with a size 4 or 6...to me, my reaction was definitely a big deal!!
I love you girls and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hey Ladies!!
I don't have much of an update. I am still doing Brazil Butt Lift. I will continue with the program until the end of September and then I will take a week off for my vaca with Pat. :) After that I think I will alternate between Chalean Extreme circuits and brazil butt lift...we will see. I am really enjoying the dance stuff that comes with Brazil Butt lift, so I am still really considering doing hip hop abs. My weight has stayed in the same range, which I am ok with since I continue to struggle with staying on track with my eating. I attribute it to my ever changing hormones, but that may just be an excuse...oh well, I am sticking to it. :) I did some measurements and compared them to my last ones and I lost a half inch to inch in my stomach, thighs, saddlebags, and hips, so I was pleased to see that change. I will also say that I have noticed a little more lift in my butt...even Pat has noticed that. :)
Sarai,
That is great that you have someone you can talk Chalean with. Hopefully you guys can do it together....it would be a great support system. Congratulations on your weight...that is awesome! How are things going now after your break? Also, I think it is funny that my butt can hold a pencil too...don't worry about it.
Amber,
You continue to amaze me with your dedication to your eating as well as your workouts. I am glad you found something that is working for you and that you are seeing the results. You look great. :)
Well, I should get going. Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day!!

Hi Girls!!! It was great to see you guys when I was in town. Since my trip, I feel like I've been doing so much better emotionally. Going to Colorado and spending time with great friends was exactly what I needed!! Amber you look great. I could tell that you had lost a little more weight...keep it up. You'll definitely have to keep us updated on how Crossfit is going. The more I learn about it, the more I realize that I'm probably too weak to do it. It's way too intense...but I truly admire you and Aaron for doing it. Shannon...Brazilian Butt Lift is definitely doing some great things for your BOOTY!! BTW, I took the pencil test and I'm pretty sure my saddle bags could hold a pencil or two...normally, I would have cried but for some reason, I thought it was funny.
One of my best friends, Kyla does Crossfit but the Crossfit gym schedule is not the most ideal for her right now. SOOOOO, she asked if she could borrow some of my Chalean cardio videos for the days that she can't make it to Crossfit. She was actually very impressed with the workouts. She said that she was sore for days. It was so nice to talk to someone here in Texas that had done some Chalean!!! Finally! I'm gonna keep trying to win her over into the world of Chalean.
Honestly, I'm still not 100% deligent with my working out. I think I'm in need of some rest and renewed inspiration. So, I'm going to take a full week off next week to pray about getting back into things with amazing strength, motivation, and dedication. The past 2-weeks or so, my weight has not gone above 122. It has actually gone as low as 120.3 which is the lowest I've been in a very, very, very long time. I feel great so I'm not too worried about taking some time off. I'll keep you guys updated!!!
Happy sweating!!!

All squats are NOT created equal.
Hi girls! Another few weeks have slipped by & I've fallen behind on blogging! So sorry! Sarai, it was wonderful visiting with you on your trip to Colorado. I wish we could see you every weekend...or work with you each week? Just kidding. I am truly thrilled that you are enjoying your job in Lubbock. It sounds like a good place to be. I agree with Shannon & am pleased that you have found a balance between workouts, eating, & life, and are not obsessing about either to any extent. Hope your birthday was a fun-filled day & you were able to do something special!
Shannon, I think its fantastic you have found yet another program that you can stick with and get results from! I am also impressed with your eating changes! I've noticed some yummy salads sneaking their way into your lunches lately=)=)=)
Aaron's personal training is going really well, & I think he's found a true passion. He says he's never been this motivated or happy about going to school. He is really, really taking it seriously, & I think it is a possible reality that he sticks with this for a few years before pursuing maritime school. We shall see. As long as he is happy, & we are able to pay our bills, I would love for him to stick with this...after all, it means free personal training sessions for ME!!!
He's taught me how to do a 'real squat'. Its nothing close to what I thought a real squat was. Basically you bring your butt lower than parallel to the floor-almost touching the back of your calves, & focus on pressing your knees outward, because Aaron learned that most weighted-squat knee injuries occur if your knees tilt inward toward each other. He has me hold a weighted ball out in front of me to help stabilize my position & that brings my core, shoulders, & knees into proper alignment, like magic. It doesn't hurt my knees at all, but the movement is so unfamiliar & intense I can only do about 12 without weights & my legs are totally smoked. I've maintained my weightloss this month, but haven't lost more. I'm comfortable with that because I know I am adding muscle. My goal is to lose about 3 more pounds before I'm completely satisfied. There is still some jiggle going on that I don't approve of =) I am really enjoying working out with Aaron, I think we are learning from each other. He's teaching me the workout logistics, but I'm teaching him what NOT to say to his future female clients.
Have a super week!

Day Off!!
Well, I had to take today off since I have a foot injury. It is nothing big. Though I am obviously not a Doctor, I think it is Plantar Fasciitis based on the research I did. It is no big deal, just an inflammation of that tissue. I was going to still workout but after yesterday's workout (which was very painful-foot pain I mean), a long day of shopping off and on, and walking Apollo, I was in a lot of pain by the end of the day, so I decided to rest today. Anyway, not much else is going on with me in terms of my workouts. I am going to do one more month of the Brazilian butt lift and then go back to Chalean Extreme and maybe do some sort of alternating between CE and BBL...we will see.
Sarai,
You will definitely have to let me know what you think of Turbo Fire. I am glad that you haven't been "worrying" about not working out as much or your eating as you used to. It really can become obsessive, which isn't necessarily a good thing even though it is with healthy habits.
Anyway, I hope you are both doing well. Take care!!

Lost track...or switch tracks???
Hi Girls!!! Sorry I haven't been so great about keeping in touch but I haven't really had much to report. At least it didn't feel like it. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I'm having a season of "slacking off" with my diet and exercise. Not sure why, but my consistency with maintaining my workouts and eating right are fair at best. I could give you about a thousand and one excuses but the bottom line is that I'm struggling. Normally, I would feel guilty and horrible about what I'm going through but I honestly think that God is trying to teach me something through all of this. Not sure exactly what but I definitely feel like my obsession about weight and my body are subsiding while my desire for God and acceptance for what I look like are increasing. Having said that, I know myself and I have faith that God will restore my consistency with my work outs and my eating...but this time, hopefully with a more pure and healed heart.
The thing that has kept me "sane" through all of this is that my weight hasn't really fluctuated. In fact, at one point in the past few weeks, my weight dipped down to 120.9. I almost had a heart attack when I saw the number on the scale but honestly, I was just thankful for the strong body that God has given me. The other thing that has kept me motivated is that for the past 4-5 years, I have maintained a steady level of progress which I'm excited to continue with. I started 2006 with a weight range of 140-143; 2007 with a weight range of 135-140; 2008 with a weight range of 130-135; 2009 with a weight range of 126-130; and 2010 with a weight range of 124-127. Right now, I'm sitting comfortably at a weight range of 121-123. I'm a size 4/6...I think I can deal with that. I think I can actually feel very proud of my accomplishment. I still want to meet my goal of 115 by December but it's not as high on the priority list as it was before. AHHHHH, freedom...feels good.
Thanks for letting me pep talk myself. I needed that. I'm so excited about TurboFire. I'm going to finish out the year with Chalean Extreme but then I'm definitely gettin it in January...CAN'T WAIT!!!
Amber, I am so stinking proud of you...118?!!!!! Are you kidding me...you're amazing. And Shannon, you have always been such a wonderful inspiration. I will pray for you and Pat as you make modifications to your diet. I love you both and I hope to see you both this weekend for a TIGHT A.S.S. REUNION!!!!

Getting on track....
So, as you guys know or at least just recently read, I have started the new Brazil Butt Lift program (two weeks down) and it has definitely helped with my mental and physical status. Mentally, I am more "excited" about working out and I am having more "fun" because the workouts are new enough that I don't find myself getting bored. Physically, my body is getting challenged in different ways, so every workout I "feel" my muscles working hard to complete the exercises. So, this change prompted me to decide to get back on track with my eating as well and maybe even take it a little more serious then before. While I wasn't doing anything just horrible with my eating before, I definitely was doing bigger portions and definitely a lot more sugar (i.e. cookies), but I have changed things. I just bought a bunch of salad stuff and chicken to go on top....so, I am going to try to take after Amber (a very faithful salad eater:)) and incorporate more of that into my diet. Pat and I are also going to limit our "splurge" eating (if you will) to 1-2 times a week instead of 3-4 because of our schedule and time together. Hopefully with both of us trying to get on track with our eating, we will be there for each other so we don't have quite so many slip-ups.
Well, that is my news. Hope things are going well for both of you. :)

O.....M.....G
Translation.....
OH.....MY......GLUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I just completed my first actual week of Brazil Butt Lift and all I can say is "OUCH". One workout that I did 3 times this week is called the Bum Bum ("boom boom" for butt) and it is essentially 30 minutes of nothing but lower body exercises...BACK TO BACK. No breaks given to you, except of course for the ones that I give myself. :) It is intense but effective. The other workout I did this week (which is becoming my new favorite cardio) is called Cardio Axe (I forget the way he pronounces it), but it is a dance that you learn and it is fun and a great workout. The other workout (High & Tight) is also all lower body, but you are doing exercises with a band or with ankle weights, so while your heart increases, it is nothing like the Bum Bum, but it is still very painful and I am often cursing at Leonardo (the instructor). The last workout I did this week was for abs (Tummy Tuck) and it is 18 solid minutes of torturous abdominal work. So, all in all, I have a love-hate relationship with the Brazil Butt Lift. I definitely think it is what my body and mind needed, but it is not going to be easy. :)
My weight and look of my body have stayed the same since I last updated. I range between 121-124, which is fine with me, especially since I often cheat with the food. :) I am also still a solid 4 or 5 in size (depending on which department), which greatly pleases me.
Amber,
Congratulations on your weight loss. That is a lot of weight to lose in that time period and you are so close to your weight goal. Maybe with the cross fit program you will be at that weight in no time. :) Also, congratulations on staying so consistent with your eating. I am very impressed by that because I know, for myself at least, that eating right is a difficult thing to stay on track with...especially where we work. :)
Sarai,
I wouldn't worry about your physical stuff right now. It sounds like what you are able to do during this time is enough to keep you at a healthy weight and probably give your mind a break from everything going on. I wouldn't worry about pushing yourself beyond what you can handle. I am also thinking about Turbo Fire, but I probably won't do it for awhile....most likely in the new year. I will keep you posted though. Also, as Amber said, you and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to be. :)
Well, I should go get some food in my tummy...hopefully healthy, but we will see. :)

Realize I forgot to mention...
Sarai, I just wanted you to know you, your father, and your family have been in my prayers this last week. I truly hope he is doing ok. I will keep sending my prayers your way.

Crossfit Hybrid
OMG I am sore. Yes, Sarai, Aaron has been 'helping' me change up my routine and that involves 3 days of Crossfit training a week. The other 3 days we are doing standard weight lifting circuits. Crossfit is intense in the fact that there is a HUGE cardio effect because most of the workouts have you going from 1 weighted exercise right into the next without breaks. And your doing a ton of reps, to ensure you max out. Believe me, I'm smoked by the end of the workout, and so far, the workouts are only about 20 minutes long. Its not like any other workout I've ever tried. I am already seeing results, but not as much as I'm feeling them! Somedays, I do miss Chalean's low-rep/high-weight style...but after a year of that, this change is also very nice!
3 weeks ago I weighed myself after the Lean4Life circuit...and I've lost a grand total of 9 lbs since starting Chalene in January. I'm stoked! Now my weight is 118. Only 3 lbs away from my goal. I really think the healthy eating has made the biggest difference. My diet just needed an overhaul.
Sarai, I checked out TurboFire and almost bought it, but its not in our budget right now. I think it looks intense, terrifying, and fabulous and encourage you to try it out if its within your budget!
Shannon, I love that you are loving Brazillian Butt Lift! Its a funny name, but I'm sure that doesn't make a bit of difference to your booty!
Well time to go refill my waterbottle. Its a hot day & dehydration is not in my plan!!! Talk to you girls later!

Trying to stay on track
Wow Shannon!!!! Brazilian Butt Lift = funny name, serious workout!!! I really didn't know what to expect from BBL but I'm glad that it is challenging you. You'll have to let us know what it does for your butt. Has any of you considered doing Turbo Fire? I'm seriously thinking about doing that next...maybe Januray. However, I'm also considering Insanity, P90X, Turbo Jam, etc. I guess anything is an option right now. Amber, are you doing Crossfit? What do you think?
I've been staying on track but to be honest, I've had so many emotional ups and downs that even though I've been doing the workouts, I feel like working out and eating right have gone down on the priority list for now. Thankfully, there haven't been too many changes in my weight/fitness status. In fact, I still feel I'm still making very, very, very slow and steady gains. My weight has held strong between 121 and 123 and I'm still going up on some of my weights, particularly shoulders and biceps.
So, the latest that's going on is that my dad got put the hospital this weekend. He got a bad infection that resulted from a biopsy they did on his prostate. It's been a rough weekend to say the least. Anyway, please be praying for my dad as you feel led. I hope to see you guys sooner than later.

Brazil Butt Lift!!!
What can I say about Brazil Butt Lift....one word comes to mind....OUCH!!! I have only done a couple of the workouts, but already I am feeling very sore and during the workouts, I feel very challenged...both from my muscles and balance being challenged. While Leonardo's (I think that is the instructors name) is a little funny because of his accent and some of his moves are a little quirky, I think this is just what my mind and body need to change things up. My plan is to take this coming week off from working out (Pat and I plan on going to my parents for several days), then next week I will finish trying out the other workouts from the program and then I will start the whole program. I am not for sure if I will do it exactly how it is scripted for my butt shape (yes...you really do have a program based on the shape of you butt:)) because it calls for six days a week (if I am honest with myself, I feel like I will only do 5) and because some of the days has two scheduled workouts. While most of the workouts are not over 40 minutes, when you combine two of the them into one day, it will make for almost an hour workout. And, again, if I am being honest about what I will push myself to do, I don't think I will regularly push myself to workout 60 minutes 5 days a week. Anyway, I have time to figure out exactly how I want to structure the program and still hopefully see positive results. I will keep you ladies posted on what I end up doing.
So, how are you ladies doing in general and in terms of your fitness?
Amber, I totally know what you mean about your body missing the workouts...weird, but it does seem to happen. I know I always enjoy my weeks off, but I am also always happy to get back into the routine. I am glad that the routine of working out is getting easier for you and that it really is becoming a part of you day to day life...it makes it so much easier to stay motivated. :)
Sarai,
Any news on increasing in weights. I am still so impressed about the 15lbs with biceps. That is awesome. How are your other fitness goals going?
Well, I had to workout late since I had to take Apollo to the vet again, so I need to go take a shower. Pollo is fine by the way...just another possible parasite or infection in his bowels. It could also be inflammatory bowel disease, but we won't know for sure unless we wanted to do a biopsy...which we don't. Anyway, the vet thinks that once he gets back on track and stays healthy and then if the symptoms come back within a few months then that is most likely what we are dealing with, which can be treated by diet changes...thankfully. :) Well, off to get clean. Hope you ladies have a wonderful 4th.
Love ya both!!

Lifestyle Changes
Hey girls, sorry I haven't written in several weeks. Our trip to Iowa was so much fun & such a needed break from, everything. I feel more renewed in various ways & realize sometimes a short get-away is just necessary in order to regain a positive outlook on life. Yay!
Got back into my workouts fairly easily. After a week off, I actually could feel my body missing the schedule, & also, was getting a little stressed about losing ground. I know it was only a week off, but it coming back to the altitude made things feel a bit more challenging! I gritted through most of the cardio in Burn It Off & had to go down in reps on several exercises I had mastered...so there was a price to pay for some R&R!!!
Now I'm back on the wagon & progressing again. I am going to order TurboFire next week! It looks terrifying, but I think its just the switch up I'm looking for. I think I will keep up the Chalean Extreme weight program, but switch out the cardio exercises for the TurboFire exercises. Once I order & receive my copy, I'll give you girls the overview=)
Sarai, Aaron & I have decided to stay here in CO for another year. He plans to attend Maritime school & get a degree in Marine Transportation. The school is located in San Francisco, but this year's program was already full, & he'll have to enroll in the 2011 courses... so we have a year to prepare for that move! We were looking in Alaska, but decided we wanted to move as few times as possible, & San Francisco was pretty much a guarenteed move, where AK was not (and it turned out all there positions were filled before I could interview!). So we are Rockies dwellers for 1 more year!
Also, Aaron is really into the CrossFit. He hasn't been consistent with it because there are no gyms here that have all the necessary equipment (rubberized barbell, chin up bar, etc), however he goes to the website all the time & tries to incorporate the style into his workouts. He used to do Crossfit regularly while in Iraq. Apparently its big among Army soldiers. I watched some of the footage on the website, and I must say that thing is the most hard core workout I've ever seen. It made this girl cry when she was through, I mean literally bawl. And she was pretty ripped. I'd be a mess.
Shannon, don't worry about missing 2 workouts. You know your body won't even be phased because you've been so very regular with the programs for over a year! I missed 1 workout last week, & I didn't feel very guilty. A little guilty, but then I realized how far I've come. I used to only work out 3x a week for less than 30 minutes each workout, & that was on a "consistent/good" week! Now if I don't get all my weight workouts in, I know I can't progress as much the next week. So its really become a lifestyle change for me. I don't feel as guilty missing a workout once in a while because I know my body can handle that without any negative results. That & I've worked so hard on my diet, I know its no longer a matter of "I need to workout to burn off that box of Girl Scout Cookies I wolfed down yesterday", lol! Also, you had a VERY busy weekend!
Sarai, we miss you terribly at CDC. I'm a little surprised about your comment regarding our great bosses...are your new bosses mean? I hope not. Can't wait for you to come visit!
Take care, & talk soon!

EXHAUSTED!!!!
Hey Ladies!!
I have to first confess that I skipped two workouts this week. The first was yesterday...we had the surprise party up in Highlands Ranch for my step-dad and just didn't have the time. The second was today...I was just sooooooooooo tired that I didn't not have the energy or the motivation to even attempt it. Oh well!! I have at least confessed. :)
Moving on...
Sarai,
Way to go with the 15 lbs biceps...that is so awesome. I am getting closer to the using that weight during the push, but definitely not the lean or burn circuits. You should be very proud of yourself. :) Oh, thanks for explaining more of the crossfit. It does sound intense and effective...just not for me. Like you said, I would rather have better form so I don't injure myself and definitely shorter workouts, to keep me motivated. Also, I miss you too! I can't wait for you to come in July...it will be so good to see you. Let me know when you have more details. :)
Amber,
Hope your workouts are going well. I can see by your lunches that your eating is doing quite well. In fact, I am very impressed...I would not make it on what you eat especially how regular you are with it. You too should be proud of yourself. :)
Anyway, I really don't have a lot to report...other than me missing two workouts. He He!! Oh!! I just did purchased the Brazil Butt Lift program. We will see....
Take care!!

Hi Friends!!!! I cannot express how much I miss you guys. Not sure why but today I'm having a hard time not being in Colorado. I miss EVERYONE!!! Seriously...I saw Renee's Relay for Life pictures and almost cried when I saw the picture of Banba. I know you guys will laugh at me but you must know that you have AMAZING bosses. Overall, Colorado is just very close to heart. I can't wait to come up for a visit.
Shannon, I can't wait to hear about Brazilian Butt Lift. It's such a funny name but no doubt it's intense. One of the OT's at the clinic I work said that she did Power 90. She said that she really liked it although it was essentially the same workout everyday. I don't know that I could do that. I'm actually considering Insanity or P90X for my next workout adventure...we'll see. I don't really want to start thinking about anything else too seriously until 2011. Anyway, I wanted to clarify that Crossfit is INTENSE!!! It's like P90X intense. In fact, Crossfit uses the same "muscle confusion" philosophy that is used in P90X. I know that anyone who would take it seriously would see amazing results. Unfortunately, even the intensity of Crossfit has to be coupled with a good diet which is what a lot of the people lack. Also, a good number of them end up getting injured...knees, back, etc. Honestly, it doesn't surprise me based on the way that they do their exercises. They do take form into consideration a little bit but it seems like what's most important is finishing a set of exercises, with as much weight or speed as you can, in as little time as you can. Here in Lubbock, some people do Crossfit at the gym but there's also a whole separate gym that ONLY does Crossfit. It costs about $75 a month, they workout in a VERY hot warehouse or outside in the 95-100 degree weather, and the workouts are anywhere from 20-120 minutes in length depending on what that day's workout consist of and how long it takes you to do it. SOOOOOOOOOO, overall I'd rather workout in the comfort of my own home, not pay $75 a month, and follow someone (aka Chalean) who places so much importance on form and injury prevention.
HAH...I'm sure you guys really wanted to know all that. Well, I'm not sure how I did it but I was able to complete one Lean exercise (split lunge with bicep curl) with 15 lbs on biceps. I was very surprised that I was able to do it but honestly, I was able to finish relatively gracefully. Maybe it was the posture of the excersie that enabled me to do it. I'm still not 100% able to do 15 lbs. on any other bicep exercise but for some reason, I can on that one.
Well, girls...I hope you're both doing well. I'll be writing again soon...

Hello Ladies!!
It has been awhile since I last posted, so I thought I would give a little update, which isn't a lot. Oh well...it is still fun to blog. :) My weight went back down to my "normal" weight, which is 123. I was happy to see it go back to that number even though I was only heavier by a couple of pounds, it still bothered me. I think it bothered me so much because I didn't really know why I had gained those pounds. I was still working out and my eating habits hadn't really fluctuated. No matter what the reason, I am back to where I have been for awhile and I am happy about that.My program that I have been doing for the past month is going well. The tower 200 definitely gives my lower body a challenge and it also really challenges my balance, which is good. I do have to admit that I am feeling ready for a change, so I have decided I am going to buy the Brazil Butt Lift program. I realized I have been doing Chalean Extreme (which I love and will always return to) for over a year now and I think both mentally and physically I need a change. I will finish with this program towards the end of June and than I will give myself a week off and start in with the new one. I will let you guys know what I think of it. I am hoping it is what my mind and body needs. :) On to a comical topic...I have been keeping up with drinking 3, 8-oz. glasses of chocolate milk a day (well most of the time) and must say that I like it. I haven't really noticed any changes in my body yet, but I do like that I am having something that is good for you and that also satisfies my sweet tooth, especially at night when that craving, for whatever reason, gets really bad. :)
Sarai,
I am glad to hear that you continue to be satisfied with where you are at in terms of your weight and I am extremely happy to hear that you seeing your muscles and that you are so happy with how you look. I think that is the most important thing for all of us. It is how we feel and how we look at ourselves and NOT the number on the scale. I am also excited to hear that you will be going up to 15lbs with your biceps...that is exciting. I think I am getting closer to that weight during the Push series, not for the burn or lean series, but that is ok. Also, thanks for the information about Crossfit. I had always wondered what that program was like since you hear so much hype about it. I am glad to know that CE is just as effective (if not more) and that you don't have to dedicate so much of your time to it. I know I would not be successful with a program like that.
Amber,
How was your week off? I am sure it was wonderful. It is such a nice break to have and than you feel recharged and ready to get back into the routine. You will have to let me know when Turbofire comes out. I think I will definitely want to check it out, especially since you found that it will fit in nicely with CE. I know after I do the Brazil program, I will be missing Chalene and I will be ready for CE again. Oh, thanks for your support with my weight change, it means a lot to me. :) I am glad to hear that Aaron has continually supported you with your workouts and your eating. It is so nice to have that support and encouragement from your husband...it can really help motivate you. :)
Well, I hope you all have a wonderful week of working out! Love you both!!!!

HI GIRLS!!!!! How are you? Amber, I'm anxious to hear about your trip to Iowa. Do you guys know where you're going yet? Shannon...thanks so much for the info on Turbo Fire. I think I'm set for now with all of the Delux Chalean Extreme workouts but it might be something I consider for later. Let me know what you guys think about it if you get it.
I miss you guys so much!!! People in Texas don't know what to think of Chalean Extreme...they just kinda look at me funny. Crossfit is the "in thing" right now around here. Let me tell you...they work out TOUGH but it kinda feels great to not have to work out so long and so hard and still get great results. Honestly, I feel like I'm getting better results than some of the people that I know are doing Crossfit. AND, I don't have to go out in the heat, run miles upon miles, or work out for 1-2 hours everyday!!! I love you Chalene!!
So, not much new to report this time around. My body feels very content being around 122 right now. Yes, it's great that I can cheat a little bit and still be at a good weight BUT, I'm ready to start moving down again and the sad part is that I can eat "leaner" and my body still just likes to sit around 122. The lightest I've been since I've been in Texas was 121.6 but all I have to do is look at food and I go back up to 122. Soooooooo, maybe I'll just stick with it for another month and hopefully my body will eventually drop another pound. OR, if I feel like I'm having to starve myself to get there or workout unreasonable amounts, I'm just going to be ok with being where God has me (aka 122-125).
To be honest, I feel great about the way I look. I love feeling my arms and/or legs and being able to feel/see deltoids end and biceps start...rather than just a straight mass of flab. It's HOT, HOT, HOT here so I go to the store and feel the need to buy tank tops and sun dresses and for the first time in my life, I feel 100% comfortable wearing them. Today, I actually bought a strapless sundress...I LOVE IT!!!
Anyway, this is where it get's tough girls. Like I said, I'm going to stick with it another month but if it's too much of a headache trying to get below 122, my goals might have to change. What keeps me going at this point is that I can definitely tell that my fitness is improving...I can run as long as I want without having to "work up" to it, I can do more than 12 slow pushups, and I'm going to start working on 15 lbs for my biceps. So here are my weight goals specifically:
Goal Weight Range for June: 118.5-123.5
Weight in April: 123.9
Today's Weight: 122.1 (Still in my range)
Goal Weight Range for December: 112.5- 117.5
One more thing before I leave you ladies. I did things a little differently the last week of Burn by using the bands instead of the weights. Long story but I wanted to change things up and I was curious. OMG...I didn't feel like I was even working out. I didn't sweat or feel even slightly out of breath. So, if you ever just need to take it easy, use the bands.
LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU BOTH!!!
Whole Foods sticker shock & approaching week off!
One more week of workouts and then I'm taking a week off to visit my friends back in Iowa! Technically, I had a 1 week break back in March when I was sick with bronchitis, but officially, I haven't had a TRUE break of enjoying my time off, time off that does not involve trying to crawl from the couch to the medicine cabinet without hacking up a lung or watching the room spin, since the first of the year. I am READY.
This past week I really hadn't eaten the best, because we went out for our anniversary on Wednesday night, ordered pizza on Friday night, and went to Bird Dog BBQ on Sunday. Mostly due to the fact we needed groceries and were both unmotivated to face the ridiculousness of King Soopers parking lot, LOL! However, I will justify my poor eating selections with the fact that I controlled my portion sizes much better than ever in the past, and I always had the other two meals of the day filled with very lean and healthy products (i.e, salads, nuts, fruit, veggies). This week I am determined to be back on track. As for our trip to Iowa, we are driving, but I convinced Aaron we needed to buy a food cooler, so we could stock it with veggies & fruit, so we wouldn't be tempted to stop for fast food at every opportunity. He agreed. Eating right sure seems easier when your husband is on board, you were right Sarai. It helps to have that other person keeping you accountable...unless he'd rather order pizza than hit up the grocery store. We are a work in progress.
Also, I stepped foot into the Whole Foods store for the first time ever. After I recovered from the initial sticker shock of their prices, and promptly restocked the fruits I had picked up thinking they would be comparable in price to fruits at King Soopers, I actully did get some sprouted grain pita bread, hummus, and organic chicken. It was all I was willing to spend extra money on. Excuse the stereotype, but holy cow, its no wonder hippies are poor. They spend all their income on Whole Foods!
Sarai, I ran into Steven at church yesterday and he told me he's moving there this week!!! YAY!!! I'm so excited for you both. I'll be praying for his safe journey and for your peace of mind until he arrives! YOU DESERVE TO DO SOMETHING FUN AND FANTASTIC WHEN HE GETS THERE!!! You've survived!
Shannon, I can not put into words how EXCITED I am for TurboFire. Thank you so much for posting the link. I put my name on the list to be notified as soon as its available for purchase. I searched Chalene's blog for inside info on it as well, and she explains that if you are already doing ChaleanExtreme, she encourages you to use those weight training videos in place of the ones that come with TurboFire, because TurboFire is more focused on cardio intervals, and the weight training that comes with it is slightly less challenging that ChaleanExtreme. So I'm thrilled her new program will rotate easily the Chalean Extreme intervals. I can not WAIT til it comes out! I am definately getting burned out ont the cardio portions of Chalean Extreme. Supposed to be available in June!!!
You girls are both doing amazing work keeping up your motivation. Shannon, I know how discouraging it is to see weight go up a bit, especially when you are working just as hard (harder?) as the month prior. You encouraged me to stay positive when this kept happening to me, so I'll do the same for you, not that you appear concerned about it=) How you maintain that healthy mindset, I dunno but I'm JEALOUS!!! I will say I do not SEE the 2 lbs at ALL on you. It must be in your boobs, you know, cuz your weights on your chest match your weights on your back!!! J/K, but wouldn't it be wonderful if the only place we put on weight was in our bra??? At least we know its not on your stomach, way to go Abs!!! Shaun T has got NOTHING on Shannon Y. Keep up the great work. I'm proud of you! Sarai, I am thrilled you are having great results with Burn! I too forgot how challenging it was. Definately makes your body recalculate what it THINKS its in for! I'm also happy to hear God is helping you maintain a healthy mindset when it comes to eating right and working out. Its obviously easier to stay on track when God is cheering you on=)=) I need to remind myself more often that God wants us to be healthy in all wellness aspects, spiritual, physical, and mental. I admire you for having such a strong relationship with Him and relying on Him for balance of all these areas of wellness. You are such an amazing example to me=)
Well I love our blog and love you girls. I look forward to seeing the new posts from each of you everytime I log on. We sure have something special here! Have a great week!

Check out this site!
So I was doing some research today on different programs and reviews, etc. and I came across this website. Thought you girls might be interested.

"If you don't get it by now...."
Uhhh....I still don't get it!! Just kidding...I get it, I just don't always adhere to it. I am sure you girls know what "it" is...eating lean....blah blah blah!!
Moving on...
So my week of Tower 200 was good and interesting. I am only using for the lower body exercises on Push. The weight increments for the bands are 25, 35, and 40. I have used both the 25 and 35. They definitely give you a challenge because of the additional weight as well as the balance it takes to maintain your position since the bands are attached to the door. So here is my story...I was doing one of the lower body exercises in Push 2 (I think)...it is the one where you go into a lunge and while still in the lunge position you bring your back leg forward and stand up using the leg in the forward position (know which one I mean Sarai??). Anyway, I do the lunge and all is fine and dandy, but when I go to bring my back leg forward (all my weight is on my forward leg), the resistance bands want to naturally go back to the door...so I find myself on one leg being brought back to the door frame. :) Needless to say, it was an awkward exercise, but kind of comical. :)
My workouts have been going well. Thanks Sarai...I really do try to change things up every couple of months. I found that once I had done the program a couple of times, I knew what I liked and what I wanted to make sure I always incorporated into my regular workout routine. It has been nice to know that in about 8-10 weeks I will be changing it up (even if it's a small change). I am actually thinking about trying the Brazil Butt Lift program from BeachBody. I know it is looks kind of cheesy, but I have seen some pretty impressive reviews on it. I haven't decided for sure, but I am definitely thinking about it.
A bragging moment...So Pat and I were (for some reason) talking about "Insanity" and joking about the instructor (Shaun T) who always lifts his shirt up when he is doing the exercises and why he doesn't just take his shirt off, etc. Anyway, I decided to demonstrate and I looked in the mirror when I did it and I must say, I was very pleased with my abs. I saw nice definition of my obliques and upper abs and those very low abs muscles (you know the ones I am talking about?). Bragging over.
Well, as you girls know, I am not really trying to reach a particular weight goal. My goals continue to be adding resistance to all of my workouts and being pleased with how I look and feel...so far so good! My weights continue to climb in the majority of exercises. Amber, I think I might try your approach of going up in weight if my current weight is too light and just doing as many reps as possible with "good form" even if it is below the 10 rep mark. I will say that my left side in particular improved (in terms of form) the last time I did the deltoid exercises. Yay!! In terms of my actual weight, I continue to range between 121-123, however, when I weighed myself today, I was 125...don't know, but won't worry about it too much.
Well, this has been a pretty LOOOONG post, so I should probably wrap it up. Before I go, I just wanted to say that it makes my heart so happy that you girls are loving this program so much and that you both have seen nice changes in your body (even if they have been slower:)). I love being able to talk with you both about it...it is keeping me motivated and even excited about working out.
Amber, keep up the hard work. I have seen definite changes in your body in the last month, so stay motivated because I bet you will reach your goal soon. :)
Sarai, I am glad God continues to keep you on the right track with your health. Enjoy working out and seeing progress, but also enjoy life!
Love you both!!
PS. I got chocolate milk today...HAH!!!

BTW
Amber,
I have run into the dilemna of 6lbs being too light and 9lbs being too heavy. Same with the jump from 9 to 12. I bought 8 and 10 pound weights to make the transition a bit easier. It was not a bad choice because I use them ALL the time. But, I also like your idea of just working up to 10-12.
Sarai

OOOOO EEEEEE!!!!
First of all, I want you girls to know that I love you and miss you very much!!! It's so great to hear from you and how you're doing with your health. Hope you're both doing well otherwise as well...marriages, work, etc.
Shannon, I'm happy that you have found so many different ways to do Chalean Extreme. I've stopped doing some of the cardio workouts for now like Burn it Off, but I know that when I'm ready to do them again, it's going to kick my butt!!! It feels great to be sore though doesn't it? You'll definitey need to share all about your Tower 200 experiences...what's that all about?
Amber, YAY!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you. Ok, so now that you've changed your eating, I hope that the changes you're seeing in the mirror and the scale are worth the sacrifices. I'm glad that you're going to try to do the phases alternating with L4L. I liked the way it's going to workout because it will take me to December which is exactly when I'd like to meet all of my weight/body fat goals and maybe try to switch things up again. Who is bringing you Oreo Shakes to work? I need to have a talk with them.
Steven and Sasha have not moved to Texas yet...we just met half way yesterday in New Mexico. I think it's definitely going to make the last two weeks apart a lot easier. I'm ready for him to move down.
Anyway, things are still going well for me in terms of my eating and exercising. God keeps on bringing healing in the way of reducing the mental energy that I put into it which in turn makes it easier to stay on track. Who knew that eliminating your obsessive thinking actually helps you be a more functional person? One thing that I was a bit aprehensive about when I moved into Kyla's is that she has a weight scale which has always been a struggle for me. I used to weight myself like 5-10 times a day so I haven't allowed myself to own a scale since college. Instead, I've just weighed myself at Bally's 1-2 times a week. Well, since I no longer have a gym membership I won't be able to do that once Steven and I move into our place. SOOOOO, I told myself that if I could keep my weighing to a minimum (1-2 times a week) while here at Kyla's, I could purchase a scale. Well, this weekend, I bought myself a Weight Watchers digital scale that also measures body fat and water percentage (hydration)...YAY!!! I'm so excited about this thing and from what I can tell, the measurements are consistent with previous ones.
Burn is so amazing!!! I can't remember sweating this much during weight training EVER...not even Lean. I'm definitely feeling "smaller, leaner, tighter". Oh and I tried Get Lean Intervals for the 1st time this week...wow, I can't believe she calls the light weight, endurance sections "recovery". Whatever Chalene!!
Talk to you girls soon...

PROGRESS!!! (apologizing in advance for tooting my own horn)
Hey ladies. This blog is about a week late, but life has been HECTIC! So, I just want to put the good news in writing and exclaim that last month I lost 2 POUNDS! Yes. 2 entire pounds. I credit the success to my change in eating habits, going OFF the pill, and weighing myself (forgive me if this is TMI) during the unbloated time in my cycle. All I can say is that finally seeing results on the scale (not just in the mirror) has given me such a renewed motivation to continue upping my challenges in working out as well as eating right. So here are my current stats...
April weigh in: 124.4
Weight as of May 10th: 122.2
Goal Weight: 115
Ok enough bragging. Sarai, I saw on facebook that you had some Steven & Sasha time! Have they come to visit or have they moved there for good? Either way I'm glad you are together again!!!
Also, I have decided to follow your lead, Sarai, and rotate the L4L and Circuit Intervals. I just got through my first week of Burn, and have decided to "push" myself forward in weights on triceps and posterior deltoids. Those are my weakest muscles but going with just 6 lbs on those is not enough, and going up to 9 always seemed to heavy. Well no excuses, I am biting the bullet and pushing myself to try 9, even if I fail at 8. I will eventually work up to failing at 10. But staying with the lighter 6 lb weight was not progressing me along. Have you girls had similar experiences?
Shannon, I am excited (and slightly amused) at your breaking in the Tower 200 program! You'll have to fill Sarai in, if you haven't already, on your battle with the device! Talk about a new challenge.
WELL girls, its time for me to grab a shower & get productive with my Sunday! Love ya.

Memories!!!!!
So, I did Burn It Off and Ab Burner this week after months of not even looking at those workouts. I just did ab burner today, so we will see what my abs are like tomorrow...I did forget how tough it is though. YIKES!!! I did Burn It Off on Thursday, however, and my inner thighs have been sore ever since. TWO...yes TWO full day of soreness in my inner thighs. I think they are so sore from those stupid burpee series that is done at the end of the workout...I really tried to go deeper into my sumo squat and boy am I feeling it now. I just can't believe how sore I continue to be even after doing other workouts and the stretches...usually that will stretch me out and my soreness starts to decline, but not this time. I guess it is good though...tells me my body had a great workout. :)
Anyway, I am doing my rotational thing again. This first week, I did the first Lean 4 Life week excluding the Push circuit. In its place I added Lower Body Extreme. I kept everything else the same...doing one cardio, one interval, and abs. The second week, I will do all three circuits of Push with my Tower 200 (for lower body) and weights (for upper body). Again, I will keep the interval, cardio, and ab workouts the same . I will continue to alternate between the lean 4 life week and push for the whole 8 weeks. We will see how it goes.
Sarai,
I haven't tried the Tower 200 in my workouts, but Pat tried it out and liked it and I did a couple of squats just to get the "feel" of it and I think it has good potential for helping me increase weight for my lower body. It has pulley systems on both the top and bottom giving you options for upper and lower body exercises. Again, I haven't tried it in an actual workout, but I think it should work. I will let you know after this week what I think of it. :) Also, I think it is great that you have "relaxed" on the amount of exercising you do every week. I believe God gave you the right idea to focus on yourself and Steven.
Amber,
You have been doing a great job staying on track with working out and eating right...good for you. It is never easy...especially working at CDC and especially when someone (not mentioning any names) brings you a delicious Oreo Cookie Shake, but you have been doing great and you should be very proud of yourself. I hope you are able to take a week off soon (not counting the one you took when you got so sick) because I bet your body could use a little recovery time. :)
Anyway, I hope you all have a great workout week!

Getting back into it...
Hi Girls!!! It's always great to read your updates and hear how you're doing. Shannon, did you get to play with your Tower 200? I googled it and thought it was really cool but couldn't figure out how you could do lower body on it. You'll have to let me know what you think.
Amber, just stick with it and don't let a few extra eaten brownies discourage you from getting right back on track!! I think we all have our days that it's harder to stay dedicated BUT, as long as you're on the right track most of the time, the results will keep coming...slowly but surely.
Well, I just finished a complete week off and I was getting ready to get started again BUT I thought that instead, I would begin my month by writing you guys. First of all, it was sooooooo nice to not have to wake up at 5am to workout this past week. The rest was amazing and I'm hoping that rest I got will give me the energy I need to get back into it with strength and motivation. In terms of eating, I gave myself no guidelines and no rules. I just ate what I wanted. So, I ended up eating more than I usually would but not by a whole lot. I think that I've brain washed myself so much that I can't actually eat very much even if I allow myself to. Plus, I hate feeling "full." I felt guilty at times but I kept telling myself that my body was strong and that it wasn't going to let me down by gaining 10 lbs in one week. I avoided the scale all week because I was afraid that I would not enjoy my week off if I new what my weight was. Anyway, all that to say that I loved my week off.
One thing that I have changed in terms of working out is that I'm just following the Chalean Extreme Program as written...no extra cardio and no extra ab workouts. Before I moved to Texas, I was doing 1-2 extra Chalean cardio workouts and going to the gym for at least 2 more cardio workouts as well. If you do the math, I was pretty much spending all of my free time working out. With all the changes going on and with the fact that I actually asked God to set my priorities straight, it just felt right to "chill out" and pour myself into other things that also matter like my God and my husband. The result has been amazing freedom both physically and mentally. AHHHHH...
Here are my goals for the Month of May:
Today's Weight: 122.0 (Yippidy...even after lots of chocolate, burritos, and Chick-fil-a)
Total Loss: 1.9
Long term Goal weight range: 112.5 to 117.5 (only 5 to 7 lbs left)
Ok...now I can go do Burn 1
Love you Girls!!!
Goal Weight Range for May: 119.5 to 124.5
Weight on April 11th: 123.9Today's Weight: 122.0 (Yippidy...even after lots of chocolate, burritos, and Chick-fil-a)
Total Loss: 1.9
Long term Goal weight range: 112.5 to 117.5 (only 5 to 7 lbs left)

Amber,
That is too bad about your heart rate monitor...how frustrating. At least you know that the medicine is working, which is a good thing. I have only heard of the Body Bug through you. It sounds really interesting and probably very helpful, especially with the information you get with calories eaten and burned throughout the day. If you decide to get it, let me know what you think of it.
Sarai,
I totally agree....each phase in Chalean Extreme is very challenging. I couldn't believe how much I would sweat in each phase or how high my heart rate got when I was going through Lean 4 Life. I think your plan for the next several months is awesome...it gives you a nice variety of everything. :)
As for me...I don't really know what I am going to do. I ordered the Tower 200. It is a band system that attaches to your door and it gives you up to 200 lbs of resistance. Pat thought it would be a good solution to my lower body problem...can do more weight, but my hands can't support it. I just did get the system today and I probably won't play with it until this weekend...unless Pat tries it out this week. :) Once I get an idea of how it works and even IF it will work than I will do Chalean Extreme...just maybe in a made up order. I will let you know what I think of it and what my plans look like. For this week...I plan on doing an upper body workout, the lower body extreme, and an interval/ab workout.
Keep my updated on how you guys are doing....

Heart-Rate Letdown
Sarai, I'm so glad you are noticing great changes! Keep up that good work! Shannon, lucky you, getting a whole week off!
This week was interesting for me. I always wear a heart-rate monitor when I work out, to keep track of which workouts help me burn the most calories, and also because the doctor wanted me to stay out of the "red zone" as much as possible due to my phantom high blood pressure. ANYWAY, that week I got bronchitis the doctor put me on a new blood pressure medicine, and this one works so my heart rate stays below a certain level. MEANING, I am working out just as hard as always however it is no longer reflected by my heart-rate monitor because the medicine is "working". This entire week, (according to the monitor) my peak heart-rate was an average of 15 points lower and my overall calorie burn was an average of 75 cal. lower. BUMMER!!! However, I would still sweat bullets on all the exercises that have always challenged me, and I would still get out of breath on much of BurnItOff. So I know I'm not slacking, its just not reflected by my heart-rate anymore=( Grrrrrrrrr.
Have either of you heard of the Body Bugg? I guess its a digital device similar to a heart rate monitor, however it is more accurate in reading your calorie burn-during workout, during rest, during stress, etc. AND it calculates your calorie intake as well, such as when you eat food. Its pretty expensive, and for it to be most accurate you have to wear it all day long. But Chalene promotes it on her blog/youtube/twitter and the gym we go to always has them on sale. Just curious if you've heard anything about them. I'm wondering it they'd be more accurate than my heart-rate monitor now that I can't get super-good news from that anymore.
This week I give myself a grade B for sugar-avoidance. I did AWESOME until Friday when Kristin brought homemade brownies to "thank" us for helping her out during her first weeks. It was also a bad weather day, so we had a TON of cancels and lots of downtime to sneak into the kitchen and gorge ourselves full with those yummy chocolate brownies. I tried to limit myself to 1, but by the end of the day had downed 3. OMG. I know I need to keep trying to overpower those sugar cravings but its soooooooo hard! I'm fine at home though, so its really just at work that those temptations seem irresistable. I think I should just make the kitchen off limits for myself. I'll store my snacks in the snack room fridge so I don't even have to go in there period:) I'm sure THAT will work.
Well my parents are visiting this weekend, so I'm gonna go have some family time...I just wanted to say great work girls! Sarai, I think you have a good system with doing L4L between each cycle! I think I may copy that! And I am considering buying the extra Chalene DVD's too. Just not quite yet. I still have a LIBRARY full of workout DVD's I can rotate through, some I've never even opened....haha don't tell Aaron! Shannon, what workouts will you be starting up this month? Talk to you later!

YIPPIDY
Shannon...you're AMAZING!!! 10-weeks without a break is very impressive. I think the most I've made it was 7 or 8 weeks. You'll find that a week off will give you the strength and motivation to get with it again. What are your plans for the next couple of months?
Well, I just finished Lean for Life so I'm taking a week off as well. What I learned from L4L was that all three circuits (Burn, Push, and Lean) deserve equal amounts of respect. Last Friday I did one of the Burn Circuits and I was DRENCHED by the time I was done. I has more sweat on me than I do when I do a cardio work out. I loved this month! In fact, my plan from now on is to do a L4L month between each phase. So, the next 6-months will be Burn, L4L, Push, L4L, Lean, L4L. After that last L4L, I should be pretty close to the end of the year so hopefully I'll be closer to reaching my goals.
I went to a Speech-Language banquet for the students at Texas Tech this week. I got to see a lot of old friends and professors and almost everyone commented on how much I had slimmed down. I experienced most of my "eating disorder" issues when I was an undergrad and I put on a lot of weight toward the end of my school career because I had no clue how to control my eating AND I stopped exercising completely. It felt wonderful to be back in that environment but this time with a great level of freedom and confidence. God is AWESOME!!
AHHHHHH, here's to a wonderful week off with a little bit of flexibility with eating as well!!!!

Hallelujah!!!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!! I am taking the week off from working out!!! Yahoo!!! I just finished up my little experiment with Lean 4 Life and the other EXTREME videos I purchased. I worked out for 10 weeks total and now I am taking the week off...feels so nice. :)
Sarai,
I am so glad to hear that things are going so well for you in Texas. It is also great to hear that your family's viewpoint of your health and fitness level has changed...that makes it so much more encouraging and rewarding. Hopefully you will be a positive influence on their health. :) Also, thanks for the encouraging words on my biceps...I am sure I will get there with my weight...my right sooner than my left, but I am determined. :)
Amber,
I agree with Sarai...it is very empowering and there is such a sense of pride when you can walk away from the sweets and stick to a snack that you know is healthier for you. Keep it up as well as all of your workouts and you will be to your goal in no time. :)

Hi Friends!!!
It's so great to hear from both of you. Amber, I'm so glad that you liked the Scentsy. I was beginning to get worried. I was sad that I didn't get to see you that day that I said bye to everyone but also glad that you're feeling better. I'm miss you girls as well. So far however, Texas has been great to me and I'm having a lot of fun at work and away from work with my friends/family. I can't believe it's only been a little over a week that I've been here. It was a long week but even more so, it was a LONG, relaxing 3-day weekend...LOVED IT!!!
I was a bit afraid that it was going to be harder to keep up with my health here in Texas because there's such a different mentality about health in general...BUT, so far, my schedule and the fact that there aren't a bunch of cakes/cookies laying around at work have actually made it easier for me to stay healthy and not deviate so much. Actually I lost almost 2 lbs. this week...so instead of hovering close to 124 like I did in Colorado, I've consistently hovered closer to 122 this week. It feels great!!!
Something that was encouraging to me this weekend was that I spent some time with my family AND, instead of them constantly bugging me about how skinny I looked, everyone was commenting on how great they thought it was that I tried to stay healthy. Why the change in attitude? Well, my siblings and my parents are both getting older and I think that they are starting to physically see and feel the disadvantages of leading an unhealthy lifestyle. My mom, who has actually seen me and cried in the past because she thought I was too skinny said to me, "You look sooooo good!" Oh yeah...
Both of you guys are amazing!!! Thank you so much for being so encouraging and making sure that I don't go overboard with this. Amber, just remember that the benefits of seeing good changes in your body FAR outweigh the benefits of chocolate cake and cookies...trust me. It's hard to have parties at work and watch everyone chow down while you eat fruit, yogurt, shakeology, and 1/3 of the cake you really want to have. But, I always felt empowered when I was able to perservere.
And Shannon...you WILL lift 15 lbs. on not just your right but also your LEFT bicep!!!!
Love you guys...

No Goals....
First, I have to agree with Amber...you were greatly missed this week Sarai. I didn't get any of your kiddos, so I wasn't impacted the way Amber and Barbara were, but I missed you as a colleague and friend. BOO!!! I definitely want you to keep us posted with the comparisons between CDC and your new clinic. It is interesting how different places can be.
On to fitness...
Well, I personally have no specific weight goals. I think I have told both of you that I am really just trying to keep a routine (both with eating and exercising) that fits my lifestyle and who I am....meaning what I can "maintain" for my life. I try not to get too concerned about my actual weight, but that can be easier said than done. What I am trying to focus on is eating healthier and working out for muscle development and cardiovascular health. In terms of my exercising, my goal is to improve my cardiovascular health (meaning not die during Get Lean Intervals) and increase my weight (i.e. biceps to 15 lbs...wishful thinking, but we will see). In terms of eating healthier, I am just trying to eat right the majority of the time that way from time to time, I can splurge on junk.
My current weight range from 121-124. Like I said I don't have a particular weight goal. While I would love to get below 115, I just don't think it is something I can maintain and continue to live my life the way I really want to. If I get below 120 without trying than great, if not, I will still be satisfied.
Sarai, I know I have told you this already, but I think your goal is fine as long as you are doing in a healthy way. I agree with Amber, you already look AMAZING, so if you didn't lose another pound, I would say that is no big deal. Just promise you will do it slowly and in a healthy way. :)
Amber, I think your goals are great. That is so awesome and I am so proud of you that you added the goal of decreasing your sugar intake. It can be a hard goal to control...especially when you are stressed and on your period...which has been your life recently. :) The other goals of keeping up with your weight training and running are also great. Your shakeology is also a great thing to continue, especially since Chalean promotes it...you really are BFF's. Maybe you will be in one of her videos someday. :)

Goals
Whew what a week! I think I can speak for everyone at work when I say we missed, missed, missed you this week Sarai! Somehow we got through. I hope your week at the new place went ok! I am excited to hear about some of the comparisons between your new clinic & CDC=)=)=) Also, I got your LOVELY Scentsy gift & I LOVE IT. I LLLLoveit-ILLLLoveit-ILLLLoveit!!! THankyou so much!!!
So onto fitness goals. Last week was an unexpected week off for me. I ended up coming down with bronchitis & having a fever so I was NOT getting out of bed to get extreme. This week I completely started L4L over again (I was only 1 week into it before I got sick, so I started at week 1 again).
I've also started to be much more conscious about how much sugar I'm eating. I have a gigantic sweet tooth, so even the most OBVIOUS bad sugar (cookies, cake, brownies, cake, chocolate, etc) is hard for me to avoid, but it's one of my main goals now. I'm trying to munch on veggies to make myself full so I won't be tempted with empty calories. Its actually working for me. I only broke down 1 time this week & had 3 girl scout cookies after supper. That is AMAZING for me. Usually I can't set them a aside until I've had at least 10, no joke. Also, for Tami's birthday at work I was able to avoide most of the cake & chocolate around all week. I had 1 slice of cake and 2 pieces of Ghiradelli caramel dark chocolate. Also a huge feat. Half the battle is having my own snacks in the fridge so I don't feel like those sweet treats are the only option.
As for weight goals, here we go....deep breath, hold it, exhale, time for honesty:
April Weight Range: 123-125: Last weigh in during last week of March: 124.4
Weight Today: ??? I refuse to interact with my scale more than once a month, at our court-ordered scheduled visitation. I'll let you know where I am the first week of May since I took a week off to be sick.
Goal Weight: 115.
I've been lighter than 115 before (um, like in high school), but that was because I had no real muscle in my body & I looked pretty darn scrawny. I don't know if it's possible for me to get down to that weight and maintain my lean muscle. There is a definate difference between being thin & toned, and just being skeletal. I'll be happy to get to 115 so long as I keep my muscle and am only losing fat. If getting to that weight means I have to sacrifice any of the muscle I'm working so hard at, forget it. I'll be satisfied with 120.
Sarai, I have to admit that I was a little surprised that our ultimate weight loss goals were similar, being that you are so much taller than me. I think you look fantastic right now, and I was surprised that you want to lose as much weight as you said. BUT, I do understand we all have our individual personal goals. Focus on staying healthy & making realistic progress each week, not the number on the scale...that's what Aaron keeps drilling into my head. Keep posting updates on your progress, and I'll be rooting for you as long as you are feeling healthy!=)
Well, onto a brief run & some Shakeology! BTW, Chalene is also a HUGE advocate for Shakeology. We are so like, BFF. Well, we would be if she knew I existed. *Sigh.
